My GSXR-600 Before.

A stunning bike!

And after.

In full race prep

Dyno GRAPH Links at bottom of page!

I've done two races now with this bike in 600cc supersport class. Where did I finish? I don't know yet, but I didn't do well. More due to rider abilities, and stock tires than anything else. Not to mention racing in the rain at Seattle is kind of unsettling. Did you know a GSXR-600 in the rain can spin the rear tire in 3rd gear in a straight line at about 9000 rpm? Mine did!

Now for the quick review. When I first got the bike, It didn't shift smoothly, you had to really bang on the shifter. Well I'm happy to report that during breakin it worked itself out. It shifts flawlessly, precisely, with or without the clutch. The bike also has a carburation problem at about 4200 RPM's. It bucks a bit when moving the throttle from full closed, to slight opening (1/8th or less). Must be some sort of needle taper problem. The footpegs, are VERY HIGH, and don't have feelers. This bike will probably not need rear-sets to go racing with. The steering is also very light. A little to light for my tastes. I find I've got to concentrate to go in a straight line at 65mph. They have a steering damper attachment built into the left side of the frame, so I think this is going to be my first aftermarket purchase. The odometer, is digital, with two trip meters. It also has a digitial temp gauge, that doesn't start registering unit 104 degrees farenhieght. The speedo, and tach, are not in a great position for street riding. For my size, the edge of the windscreen runs right smack through the center of both these gauges. Only under 35mph, and 3 grand are not obscured by the windscreen. The speedo seems fairly optimistic as well by at least 5mph.

Now after all those comments, this bike is AWESOME! It handles great, and seems to have lots of low end power. And who has time to look at your gauges anyway? Other cool features. The solo seat comes off easily, with your ignition key, and can be replaced by a rear seat only short legged passengers will fit. Front brakes seem spongy (I'm used to braided lines), but they have plenty of stopping power. Rear brake, actually slows the bike down. (Doesn't do a damn thing on CBR's 900, except turn on your break light.) For when you are going really fast, theirs even an indentation in the gas tank, to put your head to get out of the windstream. Ohh, did someone mention wheelies! This gissexer doesn't disappoint! While many will say this is a race bike in street clothing, I'll just say it comes well accessorized. Even has bungie hooks, and helmet locks.

This Dyno run was done with only 600 miles on the Engine, so It wasn't redlined.

This was a fourth gear run, the Dyno reported the Gear Ratio as 101 RPM's / MPH. While the Jetting was basically stock, the needle was raised to get rid of the Nasty flat spot at 4000 & 6000 RPM.

Racer Info!

If anyone has more information on jet settings, email me, and I'll compile the info and post it here. This is what I've found out so far. (And ordered! )

1. Their are steering dampers available for street use. But be careful, many are for race use, and require the removal of the instrument panel.

2. Everybody's got bodywork. It's the same as the 750. I'm getting tired of the Air-Tech's quality, so I'm going to try Beasley's Fiberglass. Complete set, $656. The picture at the top is the Beasley glass, it's got an incredible finish.

3. Braided lines. Galfer's got em.

4. Jetting. I've not done anything yet, except for raising my needles. Buy from what I've heard, DynoJet's kit is supposed to do the best. +2.5 hp with stock exhaust. I'm ordering a kit now, when I get re-dyno'd I'll post the results, and my jetting information. Unit then, RAISE YOUR NEEDLES. 5. Yoshimura has complete exhaust systems, just about every kind. I've went the cheap route with a RS-3 Slip on. I've been told that the full system is the same diameter as the stock system to the baffle, so unless you want to save weight, the slip on is a good way to go. 6. The D204F tires suck at the track. They don't ball up. But then everyone told me not to race on them, so most of you probably already new this.
